International metal festival returns to Fuengirola from 27 to 29 August 2026 at Marenostrum Fuengirola, right by the sea.
Sun And Thunder returns in 2026 to reaffirm its position as the final major metal festival of the European summer, combining world-class live music with a holiday atmosphere in a truly unique location: Marenostrum Fuengirola, directly on the beachfront of the Costa del Sol.
After a successful first edition that laid the foundations of the project, Sun And Thunder takes a confident step forward in 2026, strengthening its international line-up and consolidating its long-term vision as a cultural event rooted in the local environment but open to the world.

A TRULY INTERNATIONAL LINE-UP LED BY LEGENDS OF METAL
Headlining the first band announcement are Twisted Sister (USA), who return to the stage in 2026 to celebrate their 50th anniversary. After ten years away from touring, the iconic New York band will bring their highly anticipated comeback to Fuengirola as part of a very limited international tour. With global anthems like We’re Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock, Twisted Sister remain one of the most influential and recognisable names in the history of heavy metal.
Joining them at the top of the bill are Avantasia (Germany), who will perform their only concert in Spain in 2026 at Sun And Thunder. Led by Tobias Sammet, Avantasia are known for their epic, theatrical shows featuring guest vocalists from across the international metal scene, making each performance a unique experience.
STRONG NORDIC PRESENCE ON THE COSTA DEL SOL
Reflecting the strong Nordic community living on the Costa del Sol, Sun And Thunder 2026 features several outstanding artists from Northern Europe.
Lordi (Finland) will bring a special show celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Arockalypse, the album that made them internationally famous. Known for their monster costumes and spectacular live performances, Lordi are one of Finland’s most successful rock exports.
Also from the Nordic region, Eivør (Faroe Islands) will offer one of the most distinctive performances of the festival. With her powerful and unique voice, Eivør blends Nordic folk traditions, atmospheric soundscapes and modern influences, creating an emotional and immersive live experience that resonates strongly with audiences from Northern Europe.
GERMAN METAL POWER AND EUROPEAN DIVERSITY
Germany will be strongly represented with Primal Fear, leaders of classic heavy and power metal, and Destruction, pioneers of European thrash metal with a career spanning more than four decades. Both bands are renowned for their high-energy live shows and loyal international fanbases.
The line-up also highlights the diversity of the contemporary European metal scene, featuring Harakiri for the Sky (Austria) with their emotional post-black metal sound, Gaerea (Portugal) and their intense, ritualistic performances, and Calva Louise (UK), a London-based band with multicultural roots blending alternative metal, punk and electronic elements.
AMERICAN ENERGY AND LOCAL TALENT
From the United States, Adam and the Metal Hawks bring classic hard rock influences from the 1970s and 80s, delivering an energetic and accessible sound that connects easily with international audiences. Also from the USA, Nefarious, a thrash metal supergroup formed by members of legendary Bay Area bands, adds further international weight to the programme.
Spanish metal will also be well represented with Debler, Vendetta FM, Sovengar, and local Fuengirola band Airos, underlining the festival’s commitment to combining international names with national and local talent.
THREE DAYS BY THE SEA, DESIGNED FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE
Sun And Thunder 2026 will take place over three days, with Friday and Saturday hosting the two main nights of the festival, led by the headline acts.
Thursday will open the event with a full festival day in a more compact format, focused on a single stage, offering a strong and engaging start for those attending from the very beginning.
This structure allows the festival to focus on quality, comfort and atmosphere, ensuring a memorable experience for both residents and international visitors.
