From the underbelly of Athens, Order of the Ebon Hand rise once again to reshape archetypal black metal in their own formidable vision. Emerging from the city’s ancient shadows, the long-revered band unveils their fourth full-length album, XI JUSTICE, out now via Satanath Records.
True to their established legacy, Order of the Ebon Hand transcend nostalgia, forging a soundscape that channels the timeless malevolence of 90s masters such as Emperor, Gehenna, and Limbonic Art, yet in a form utterly their own.
Order of the Ebon Hand
Since 1994, the band has walked the Left-Hand Path with unyielding purpose, their discography a series of spiritual tarot invocations. Each album, save for their debut, embodies the essence of a tarot card viewed through a blackened lens, a mission now reaching full maturity in XI JUSTICE. Spanning 11 tracks and over 70 minutes, the album stands as a monumental testament to the daunting severity of Justice itself. Its compositions echo a battle not only between worlds, but within the spirit, a treacherous passage where right and wrong are contorted, challenged, and reborn amid relentless sonic upheaval.
Haunted by visions of the coming change of aeon, Order of the Ebon Hand drew inspiration from both cosmic realignment and its chilling, necessary upheavals. Their creative process ventures deep into the occult, channeling forces beyond the veil, with melodies and meanings carved from realms where true risk resides. As the band states, “We take great pride in our exhausting work on XI JUSTICE. This is the way for Black Metal bands to go.” The result is not aesthetic posturing, but spiritual compulsion, a raw act of invocation that refuses compromise.
Mixed and mastered
by Victor Santura at Woodshed Studios, XI JUSTICE achieves a vast, immersive power, true to the band’s devotion to spontaneity and direct channelling, reminiscent of milestones such as Dissection’s Reinkaos and The Devil’s Blood’s The Thousandfold Epicenter.
The album sounds proud, dark, and elevated, a work unafraid to declare itself the true story, plunging fearlessly into the occult while daring to face the unseen.
Alongside the release, the band presents the official video clip for “Amaymon,” created by Hydra Rise Media, now streaming on YouTube:
