Between post-punk excitement and a tormented psyche, The Bernadette Maries crafts here an introspective piece, tinged with shoegaze and dream pop influences (DIIV, Fontaines D.C., Cocteau Twins & The Stone Roses in the lead).
With melancholy and dreamy eyes, “The Closer You Look” announces a bright future to the band with the release of their first album in 2026 on Géographie.
The Bernadette Maries
is a band formed in 2024 in Brussels, Belgium and composed of Guy, Daria, Romain, and David. The band skillfully blends the energy of post-punk, the sonic textures of shoegaze, and the melodic structures of indie rock.
TBM’s music speaks of love and existentialism, melancholy, and the meaning of our lives in a world that is slowly collapsing. It draws inspiration not only from music but also from society, books, and film.

In February 2025, The Bernadette Maries released their debut EP, “LvvV,” packed with catchy gems like “Dream Place” and “Glowing,” which allowed them to play extensively in Belgian venues and tour France and Switzerland, notably alongside bands such as Bodega, Ditz, English Teacher, The Ex, Gurriers, Maquina, and New Dad.
Currently working on the production of their first album with Marc Porteau (Bryan’s Magic Tears’ sound engineer) – This one is planned for 2026 on Géographie (Marble Arch, SCHØØL, Dog Park, …) – “The Closer You Look” sets the tone and begins an exciting new chapter for the band.
