Swiss artist elie zoé is released the third single / video “shifting forms“, taken from their upcoming album also named “shifting forms” to be released on October 10th 2025 on Humus records (LP, CD, Digital)
“shifting forms” , the title track, third single and indie rock gem from elie zoé’s upcoming album, introduces the theme of cycles that runs through the record. It reinterprets death as a passage, a transformation of form, a magnificent transfer of energy—an activation that enables life. The artist also announces a tour of Switzerland (dates at bottom of email) – concerts in France and Europe to come.
On “shifting forms“, The guitar-drum duo, the beating heart of elie zoé’s music—recorded live here with the vocals, is enriched by quasi-psychedelic synthesizers with 80s overtones. By reviving old analog keyboards and running them through effects built from worn magnetic tapes and second-hand tape recorders, Louis Jucker brings a spark of magic to the recording through his production work.
This musical panorama takes us on a journey that can begin at any moment, with any point of contact. A journey that lets us slip into the flow of days and ride the force of things. Being in relationship allows us to reveal new facets of ourselves, to rekindle the past, and to call forth desirable futures.Inheriting the tradition of elie zoé’s philosophically minded songs, “shiftingforms” is an intuitive gateway into exploring the complexity of the living world—its immense resilience, and our total interconnection with it.
Track written by elie zoé.
Recorded by Louis Jucker at Humus Lab. Mixed by Louis Jucker & elie zoé. Mastered by Johann Meyer.
Line up on this track: elie zoé – vocals, guitar, bass synth, DX7 • Luc Hess – drums • Louis Jucker – oscilloscope, DX7, roland key, dubs
About the single “shifting forms” & video (artist comment):
“I like to visualize the spaces created by places that make me feel good. In them, I can transform, stretch time, feel that my breath isn’t so far fromthe tides moving with the moon. And sometimes, disappear.Could it be that dead wood is actually a vital force in the creation of life? Are the moths in my kitchen here to help me eat better? Does the wolf choose to kill the deer, or is it the deer that invites the wolf to do so? Whatremains when beings die? Does my grandmother sometimes speak with my voice?I think, by writing this song, I’m answering those questions—at least a little :we’re shifting forms, we’re all at once, yet to be born a thousand times” – elie zoé
About the video:
« we had three days to imagine, shoot, and edit the video for “shifting forms.” A unity of place with “change my name” and “dormant plants” brought us back to the same spot, in a pine forest up in the mountains. i wanted to convey how our perceptions change over time, depending on where we are and who we’re with. i also wanted to use very DIY effects: simple morphing and lenses placed in front of the camera to play with the light and shift the focus.
by the end of the second day, we still didn’t have any footage we were happy with, because the colors were lacking due to the cloudy weather… until just before the sun slipped behind the mountains, giving us 15 minutes of perfect light to shoot all the scenes! » – elie zoé
