James Kennedy and The Underdogs from south Wales present the explosive first single from their forthcoming album ‘Rebel’ via the newly relaunched Combat Records.

Clocking in at 2 minutes 45 seconds, the song wastes no time on its bouncy, high-speed, punk rock joyride. With the swagger of the Wildhearts, the volume of Foo Fighters and the fun of My Chemical Romance, ‘Us and Them’ fires the first shot of the Underdogs’ new crusade and it’s clear that they’re not slowing down, turning down or bowing down for nobody.
Quite the opposite. Singer James Kennedy says the lyrics were inspired by a book: “I was reading this book called ‘Vultures’ Picnic’ by Greg Palast and right away, he hits you with: ‘There is only one story, the story of Them vs Us’. And I loved that. That was the seed for the attitude of the song”.
Musically, it reveals another side of the Underdogs too – rawer, more immediate, as if they’ve kidnapped the frantic energy of their live shows and unleashed it on the track. “We can’t wait to play this one live!” says James. ‘Us and Them’ is out now via Combat Records on all major streaming platforms worldwide. Formed in 2023 by James Kennedy, the former singer in the band, ‘Kyshera’ and author of the best-selling rock biography, ‘Noise Damage’, the band includes Jack Davies (Guitar), Elliot Blake (Bass) and Aggy Nowicka (Drums).
In their short time as a band so far, they have toured non-stop around the UK sharing stages with bands like The Meffs, Ginger Wildheart, Marisa and The Moths and playing festivals including Nozfest, Beautiful Days and Just Push Play where their anarchic and energetic live show has earned them the title of ‘Wales’s most vital live band’ by Uber Rock Magazine.
