Heavy/Speed/Power Metal legends Rage will return to Savino Live in Larnaca on April 18, 2026! They arrive with the “New Worlds Rising Tour” to support their same-titled album, which was released in 2025.
This is a truly pleasant surprise for Cypriot fans, who still remember too well the amazing concert at the same Savino Live in 2024. You can read about it in our live report.

Well, for those who couldn’t make it two years earlier, they will be able to feel the full power of Rage on April 18 at Savino Live.
We, in turn, invite you to recall some of Rage’s iconic songs and albums, which can rightfully be considered classics of heavy metal.

Back in history of Rage

When a band’s history dates back to 1984, and at the time of writing this article, it has released 27 studio albums (!), and the number of compilations, EPs, and live albums released is even harder to count, then choosing an album for discussion is a difficult task. But we suggest going back in time to 1996 and discussing Rage’s first collaboration with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. And perhaps you’ve already guessed that we’ll be talking about the “Lingua Mortis” album.

In 1986, the band changed its name from Avenger to the well-known RAGE and released its first album, “Reign of Fear” under the new name. This was followed by several lineup changes and successful hits such as “Don’t Fear the Winter”, “Invisible Horizons” and several others. They toured with Running Wild, U.D.O., Motörhead, and Saxon. In 1992, they achieved another breakthrough with the release of “Trapped!” and a major tour in Japan. Further success followed in 1993 with the release of “The Missing Link” album. And then, they conquered the world charts and embarked on another world tour in support of the release of their breakthrough album “Black in Mind” in 1995.

“Black in mind”, a milestone!

It is some of the songs from “Black in Mind” album that represent the first symphonic experiment in Rage’s career. And finally in 1996, “Lingua Mortis” was released. This album sets a trend for years to come for other bands to use classical instruments in their recordings, serves as an inspiration for subsequent albums and Rage’s live performances with a symphonic orchestra.

What makes this album particularly striking is how naturally the two worlds blend. The collaboration between band and orchestra feel almost conversational. The orchestra enhances dynamics – quiet passages become more haunting, and explosive sections hit with even greater force.

The album “Lingua Mortis” continued the success of “Black in Mind”

This synergy elevates familiar material into something that feels fresh and immersive. And those who is familiar with “Black in Mind” album can feel that in such songs as “In a Nameless Time”, “Alive but Dead”, “All This Time”. And the quintessence of the whole album can be considered in “Lingua Mortis Medley” that is consists of parts from the songs: “Don’t Fear the Winter”, “Black in Mind”, “Firestorm”, “Sent by the Devil” and “Lost in the Ice”.

Such symphonic collaborations showed that metal had compositional depth comparable to classical music. It also influenced an entire wave of bands. The success of such collaborations encouraged the rise and expansion of symphonic metal as a genre. And we can say this with 100% certainty knowing how many amazing bands have released iconic symphonic albums since.

Another key aspect of the “Lingua Mortis” legacy is live performance revolution. After projects like this, the idea of metal bands performing with full orchestras became more common – and more ambitious.

Legacy of “Lingua Mortis”

Overall, “Lingua Mortis” it’s not just another album in band’s discography but an exploration of how metal can evolve without losing its identity. It demonstrates that heaviness isn’t just about volume or speed, but also about atmosphere and scale.

And although there won’t be a symphony orchestra at Savino Live on April 18, the fans’ voices screaming in unison will be louder than all the strings combined. Be a part of this, don’t miss!
